The Embassy of India organized India's participation as Guest Nation at the 2nd International Gastronomic Festival in Veracruz (put up by CANIRAC Veracruz & the State Government of Veracruz at the World Trade Center in Boca del Rio) from 10-13 September 2015. This is the first time that India has participated in any Gastronomy Festival of this scale in Mexico. With the help of India Tourism, the Embassy flew in well-known Chef Machindra Kasture of the ITDC (also formerly Executive Chef to the President of India & Member of Club des Chefs des Chefs). Another well-known Chef Hari Nayak, Owner of Gourmet Gurus Inc., flew in from New York. Together, they put up a fantastic menu. H.E. Ambassador Sujan R. Chinoy delivered the key-note address at the Festival as Chief Guest. The Embassy also organized the participation of Indian companies JK Tornel (JK Tyres of India) and TVS (motorcycles & three-wheelers) to combine India's culinary delights with its manufacturing excellence. Teachers and students of the Gurudev Tagore Indian Cultural Center of the Embassy put up scintillating performances of classical Indian dance and music at the Gala Dinner, to the thunderous applause of hundreds of guests. India's participation was part of a series of activities undertaken by the Embassy to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Mexico.
